What Is There To Do?
Where do I begin?…there is so much to do!
- Camping is a great adventure alone! Exploring the nature around the camp site, playing in the river or stream, taking a plunge in a nearby swimming hole, lounging in your chair by the river or soaking up some rays lounging on the rocks out in the middle. Fishing is always a great way to enjoy the scenery.
- You may be interested in floating down the river in a canoe, kayak or tube.*
- Of course there’s always beautiful trails if you are up for a hike, whatever camp site you choose.
- And then there is the Virginia Creeper Trail. This is one of my favorites! You rent a bike at the top of an old railroad bed that has been transformed to a fabulous bike trail. You casually coast downhill from Whitetop Mountain to Damascus,VA passing by beautiful meadows and glorious mountain streams! People of all ages and physical abilities can do this. I’ve seen babies…even dogs in a tag along carrier. And one of the best parts is they shuttle you in a van back up to the top where you started!*
